Project Manager
Project Managers are responsible for the overall construction of interior and exterior projects assigned. The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, experience and confidence to engage and professionally interact with the design professionals, consultants and client(s). He(she) must be able to successfully lead Support Carpenters and other construction related personnel in planning, coordinating and wisely executing the work in accordance with the contract documents, schedule and budget. They must possess the training and experience in modern building science and High Performance building design and construction.
Responsibilities
Oversee residential construction, including framing, remodeling existing construction, roofing and skylights, siding, door and window installation, insulation, drywall, flooring and tile, cabinetry, and precision trim installation
Lead and direct a crew of up to four carpenters
Build high performance new homes, additions and remodels directly from blue-print designs
Utilize blueprints and complete projects with hand, power and air tools associated with carpentry.
General knowledge of masonry, plumbing, heating, and electrical systems
Responsible for managing materials, maximizing resources, and managing work flow.
Manage projects to ensure deliverables are met on time and on budget.
Establish relationships and manage conflict resolution with all involved parties during projects to create an agreeable working environment.
Accustom to extreme weather conditions, heavy lifting, and stamina.
Possess a positive work ethic.
Collaborate with engineers, architects etc., to modify or verify project specifications of the project
Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
Supervise the work of sub-contractors, vendors, employees, and mechanics etc. and give them guidance when needed
Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
Minimum Qualifications
Must have 5 years of full time, verifiable experience with a working knowledge building science and of high performance remodeling and new construction. Your job will include:
Performing layout based upon plans and specifications provided to you
Supervising our Lead and Support Carpenters, as well as our subcontractors
Managing our clients on the jobs you are assigned to
First Aid and CPR Certification. If you don’t have current certification you will have 1 month to obtain this at your own cost. Once this initial certification expires, we will pay for recertification (both the tuition and your time) but only the 1st Aid component needs to be renewed; the CPR recertification is suggested but not required.
Good supervisory skills
Own basic carpentry tools. See the more specific list of required tools below (titled “Tools required”)
Dependable, presentable transportation – see the more specific description below (titled “Production Division Vehicles”)
Computer experience: fluency with mainstream software that performs scheduling, emails, task lists, and contacts; fluency with web searching
Valid driver’s license with an excellent record (record to be verified with our insurance carrier)
Strong knowledge of construction materials and terminology
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to fill out forms legibly
Good knowledge of safe lifting and carrying; good safety consciousness
Adequate hearing, vision, physical ability and endurance to perform work assigned
Perform physical exertion typically found on construction sites including, but not limited to, carrying, lifting, climbing, crawling, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling and hauling. Able to lift 75 -125 pounds on a regular basis; regular lifting of 30-50 pounds over your head; occasionally lifting to 125 pounds over your head. You will be expected to work inside and outside, on even and uneven surfaces, on roofs and ladders, under structures, and in other physical situations.
Compensation
Starting wage commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The current wage range for this position is $34-42/hour.
