Bikes, a Love Letter

Did we ever tell you, that aside from building great things, we also love bikes. All bikes of any shape or size. And the funny part? We also tend to really love the PEOPLE who ride bikes as well. Good people and bikes just seem to go hand in hand.

That’s why we sponsored our first ever ‘A1 Bike Repair Day’, where we did our very best to fix any bike that showed up at our bike repair station on September 7th. Cruisers, mountain bikes, 10 speeds, old but wonderful beaters, you name it. We worked hard to get over 30+ bikes back on the road or trail.

One of the great things about the day is that we met a whole bunch of great people, all intent on keeping Bellingham and Whatcom county a bike friendly community. For bikes we couldn’t fix or for parts we didn’t have, we partnered with and provided gift cards to Earl’s Bikes - who helped with a variety of tires, chains and other spare parts. We love Earl’s, because they’re just as passionate about bikes as we are.

We also had the privilege of partnering with Whatcom Smart Trips to help get the word out and help us during the event. The Smart Trips goal is to minimize all the single drive-alone vehicle trips that happen in Whatcom everyday, and they do this by promoting ride sharing, taking the bus, going for a walk, or, of course, biking. They also work with employers around Whatcom county to incentivize ride sharing and taking public transportation, which not only helps with traffic and on-site parking spot congestion, but also with keeping our air clean for the benefit of us all.
