The Secret Sauce of Design

We have a secret sauce, and it’s not what you might think. Our goal is to help clients craft the perfect scope of work within their budget, effectively aligning their dreams with their financial realities. This service alone builds trust and confidence between us and our clients. However, there’s more to our success than just financial alignment. The unexpected secret sauce that brings us together is Interior Design.

At one time, I thought our secret would be High-Performance Design, grounded in cutting-edge building science. This approach is undeniably valuable: it ensures the longevity of the building, is cost-effective for clients in the long run, and is beneficial for our planet. While our commitment to high-performance building is essential and appreciated, it doesn’t require the same level of intimate collaboration with clients as interior design does.

Interior design involves the kind of detailed, personal discussions that truly build trust. Conversations about space planning, color selection, and style preferences are where the magic happens. Talking about practical details—like grab bar locations, task lighting, hallway widths, door knobs, and recycling bin placements—creates a bond. It’s a counterintuitive revelation for someone who loves the technical side of building science, but it resonates with the artist in me. Interior design is a creative, problem-solving activity that is both personal and engaging.

To illustrate our flexible approach to interior design, we’d like to showcase three distinct kitchen styles. These examples highlight our ability to help clients express their unique tastes and preferences.

Modern Gothic

Modern Gothic is a contemporary twist on historical design, often termed Goth. While images of this style might evoke dark, mysterious elements, our interpretation is more nuanced. We balance the traditional gothic aesthetic with modern sensibilities, creating spaces that are both dramatic and inviting. Picture a kitchen with rich, dark cabinetry, intricate detailing, and modern appliances seamlessly integrated.

In stark contrast to the Modern Gothic style, French Country brings a light and playful aesthetic. This style features specialty appliances with a rustic charm, distressed wood finishes, and a color palette filled with soft, warm tones. The overall effect is cozy and inviting, perfect for those who appreciate a relaxed, homey atmosphere.

Contemporary

For those who prefer clean lines and simplicity, the Contemporary style is ideal. This design emphasizes minimalism, with sleek surfaces, innovative materials, and a focus on functionality. Imagine a kitchen with glossy cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and an uncluttered layout that exudes modern elegance.

We are excited to hear from each client and help them express their style through thoughtful, personalized design. Our commitment to interior design, combined with our expertise in high-performance building, ensures that we can create spaces that are not only beautiful but also sustainable and efficient.
