Community Bike Repair Station
For many at A1, getting on our bikes has become a go-to treatment for moving our body, commuting, and quieting our minds.
In 2015, to celebrate our 60th birthday, and as a gift to the community that has supported us for all those years, we decided to build something that could serve our team and our neighbors.
We’re well known for our ever-changing reader board outside the office, but perhaps less obvious is the little shelter just before it that houses our community bike fix-it station. Outfitted with an assortment of tools to keep us all rolling safely, this fix-it station was designed by our General Manager Patrick Martin and was inspired by a bike trip to visit his daughter at Evergreen State College. “That campus is very bike friendly and has several areas where students and staff can park and tune up their bikes”.
As we emerge (slowly) into summer, we hope to host an in-person bike repair workshop with the help of a few local bike mechanics. Keep an ear out for that official announcement.
The community bike fix-it station is located at our shop at 3310 Northwest Ave, Bellingham. Come by rain or shine, day or night, and use what you need to stay rolling.
